A CareCredit payment may not appear immediately after submission. Synchrony currently says card-account payments generally take 24–48 hours to post, while CareCredit advises allowing at least 48 hours for an online payment and 7–10 business days for a mailed payment to be received and posted. First confirm what was submitted, whether the bank processed it and which part of the CareCredit account has not updated. If the payment cleared the bank but was not applied to the card account, contact Synchrony using the number on the card or statement.
Check these three records
- The payment confirmation or scheduled-payment record
- The withdrawal or payment status at your bank
- The payment activity and balance in the official CareCredit account
Identify what has not updated
“My payment is not showing” can describe several different situations. Separate them before taking action:
- No confirmation: there is no email, reference number or scheduled-payment record showing that a payment request was created.
- Scheduled or pending: the payment request exists, but it has not finished processing.
- Bank not debited: CareCredit shows a submitted payment, but the money has not yet left the bank account.
- Bank debited, CareCredit not credited: the bank shows the payment cleared, but the card account does not show the credit.
- Payment posted, available credit unchanged: the payment appears in account activity, but the available credit has not increased.
- Payment posted, promotional balance looks unchanged: the account received the payment, but its effect on a particular promotional balance is unclear.
These are not the same problem. For example, Synchrony’s CareCredit agreement says it may delay making credit available in the amount of a payment even though it credits the payment when received. A delayed available-credit update therefore does not automatically mean the payment is missing.
Allow the published posting time
Synchrony’s current FAQ says payments take 24–48 hours to post. CareCredit’s cardholder guidance says to allow at least 48 hours for an online payment to post. For a mailed payment, CareCredit recommends allowing 7–10 business days for it to be received and posted.
Check whether weekends, holidays, mail delivery or the payment method affect the timeline. Do not assume that every screen will update at the exact moment the payment is submitted or the bank first displays activity.
If a due date or promotional expiration date is close, keep the confirmation and contact the issuer promptly if the published period passes. This page cannot determine the official credited date for an individual payment.
Verify the payment request
Review the official CareCredit or Synchrony account and any confirmation email. Record:
- The payment amount
- The date it was submitted or scheduled
- The selected payment date
- The bank account identified by its last digits
- The confirmation or reference number
- Whether the payment is scheduled, pending, processed, returned or canceled
Synchrony says an online payment generates an email confirmation and another confirmation after processing. A confirmation that the request was received is useful evidence, but it may not mean that the bank transfer has completed or that every account figure has updated.
If there is no official confirmation or payment record, do not rely only on remembering the submission screen. Check the bank and official account before attempting another payment.
Check the bank account without spending the funds
Confirm that the payment account had sufficient available funds and that the account and routing information were correct. Look for a pending withdrawal, completed withdrawal, returned payment or no transaction.
If the withdrawal has not happened yet but the CareCredit payment remains scheduled or processing, keep the money available. Spending it can cause the payment to fail when Synchrony attempts to collect it.
If the bank shows that the payment cleared, retain a statement or transaction record showing the date, amount and trace or reference information available from the bank. Synchrony’s guidance says that when a payment has cleared the bank but has not been applied to the card account, the cardholder should contact Synchrony at the number on the card or statement.
Do not create an accidental duplicate payment
A second payment may not cancel or replace the first one. Before resubmitting, check the official account, confirmation emails and bank activity. If the first payment is still scheduled or pending, ask Synchrony whether another payment is appropriate.
This is especially important for a large payment or a promotional payoff. Two successful withdrawals could reduce the bank balance more than expected, while canceling or reversing a payment may have separate consequences.
Compare the correct CareCredit account fields
After a payment posts, review more than the total balance. Check the payment entry, current balance, minimum amount due, available credit and any relevant promotional balance. They may not all update in the same way or at the same time.
If the payment appears but a promotion did not decline as expected, the question may be payment allocation rather than missing payment. See how multiple CareCredit promotional balances work. For help locating account fields, use the guide to read a CareCredit statement.
When to contact Synchrony
Use the number on the back of the card, the current statement or CareCredit’s official contact page when:
- The published posting period has passed.
- The bank confirms that the payment cleared, but CareCredit has not applied it.
- The account shows the wrong amount, date or payment status.
- The payment was returned or canceled and the reason is unclear.
- A late fee, interest charge or promotional deadline may be affected.
Have the amount, submission date, confirmation number and bank evidence available. Ask which date the payment was credited, whether it was returned and what documentation is required to investigate it. Do not send a full account number, password or bank credentials through an unverified email or third-party website.
If the problem appears on a billing statement
If a statement does not reflect a payment you made, review the billing-error instructions and address printed on that statement. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency advises contacting the bank and notes that it may require a written billing-error notice with evidence such as a canceled check or electronic-payment confirmation.
The agency says a written notice should generally be sent within 60 days after the statement containing the suspected error was sent. This is different from sending a routine payment, so use the statement’s billing-inquiries address and current instructions. Contacting customer service does not necessarily replace any formal written-notice requirement.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a CareCredit online payment take to show?
Synchrony currently says payments take 24–48 hours to post, and CareCredit advises allowing at least 48 hours for an online payment. Check the current official account and payment confirmation for the status of your transaction.
What if the money has not left my bank account?
Check whether the payment is scheduled, pending, canceled or returned. Keep the funds available while a valid payment is still processing, and verify the bank account information through the official CareCredit account.
What if my bank shows the payment cleared?
Keep the bank record and payment confirmation. If CareCredit has not applied the cleared payment, contact Synchrony using the phone number on the card or statement.
Why has my available credit not increased?
The CareCredit agreement says Synchrony may delay making credit available even when it credits a received payment. Confirm that the payment itself posted, then ask Synchrony about an account-specific delay.
Should I submit the payment again?
Not until you have checked the official account, confirmation and bank activity. If the first payment may still process, contact Synchrony before risking a duplicate withdrawal.
